In the field of contract packaging, UET is a well known name.  The Rheinstetten-Forchheim based company builds compact rotary cartoning machines, which are used mainly for pharmaceutical, cosmetic & toiletries products.  At Interpack, UET presented the new cartoner type Compact 5 in the pharmaceutical industry version.

Owner of UET since 1994, Gianfranco Gualtieri speaks of his machines with unmistakable pride, "our machines stand out through their quality, compact design, robustness and flexibility."  According to Gualtieri, the new Compact 5 (pharmaceutical version) is the most flexible cartoning machine his company has yet produced.  The cartoner features a combined tuck in and hot melt closure with a tamper-evident seal and up to five filling stations, enabling several components to be inserted into each box.  This in turn makes it possible for several operators to handle the filling.  The machine design also incorporates a fully automated leaflet inserter for user information and an HP cartridge printing system, plus particularly  important for pharmaceutical packaging  - all current, reputable systems (PCE, Antares, Lateus, OCS, Optel, etc.) for serialization and track and trace can be integrated seamlessly.  And who is the new Compact 5 aimed at?  Gualtieri emphasises, "Basically, at anyone needing to pack very small to medium sized production runs of pharmaceutical or cosmetic products.  And in addition to smaller pharmaceutical businesses, pharmacists producing and needing to package their own care creams and suchlike come immediately to mind as well."

Another prominent feature of the Compact 5 is its use of the universally adjustable size star Stella68.  This size star system patented by UET reduces changeover times to approximately 15 minutes. "This represents a major time saving feature during size changes" says UET owner Gaultieri who sees the Compact 5 as a future-proof cartoning machine.  "In the future, this will  enable our customers to handle box sizes which are completely out of their reach at present - but without incurring any costs for size part replacement."

Also premiered at the Dusseldorf exhibition, was the Baden based company's universal Compact 2 box erector with special features such as fully automated carton opening, coding, single -side closure and offers the smallest footprint.
