Late pack customisation & serialisation
Langen have been supplying specialist cartoning machinery for medical device, pharma and woundcare applications for almost 20 years. Recent developments, in addition to full validation systems, include late pack customisation and serialisation.
An area of speciality for Langen is contact lens cartoning. Lenses are offered in a huge range of SKU’s, but with late pack customisation can be produced in high volumes, packed into blisters, marked with a 2D code and stored as WIP in trays or cartridges. When an order is placed the correct range of lenses are then picked and presented to a Langen cartoning machine. The machine reads the 2D code, retrieves the required batch data and distributes this to all functions of the machine; to print and apply labels to the blisters, check the correct leaflet has been selected, check the carton blank style and then laser print the relevant data which is then verified by vision system.
Langen machines can also offer fully validated packing while running batches back to back (without clearing the machine out between batches), automatic unloading of blisters from trays or cartridges, and serialisation.
