See two of the packaging industries big hitters together on the Springvale Equipment Stand (Hall 5 /Stand G46) @ PPMAshow – 25-27 Sept.

Mespack of Barcelona and Langen from Holland have together been installing equipment all around the world to meet the demands of stick pack production for the ever growing tea & coffee market.

Mespack made famous by their range of robust and flexible horizontal sachet and stand-up pouch machines, added vertical stick pack machines to meet the demands of one of their largest Global customers. To have one of the fastest coffee stick machines on the market requires a well-engineered collation and cartoning system to handle the sticks often coming from more than one packaging machine and this is Langen’s domain.It is not enough just to have fixed counts in cartons as marketing want the flexibility of variable counts and variable flavours in the same carton. This is a speciality of Langen using their unique single stick counting system or multiple layer “bomb-bay” collator, shown below.

The stick pack is such a convenient packing format that recent installations include pharmaceutical and cosmetic applications where there are extra demands for full vision inspection systems reading the pharma code of both product and leaflet prior to loading into the carton with late pack customisation and serialisation as required. Langen are specialists in product handling and cartoning of an eclectic range of products, including bottles of whisky into decorative cartons, disposable contact lenses, tissues and more traditional products such as Weetabix.
